Business Continuity Exercises

Two tier exercise (strategic and tactical)

The Client: an international (FCMG) company with a large factory and country-wide direct sales operation in South Africa

Project: the client had concerns about how sales and distribution operations in South Africa would be affected if there was a serious disruption caused by either a strike by sales staff or as a result of a chronic failure by a business critical third party service provider … the exercise involved both the EMT (strategic) and Crisis Management Team (CMT – tactical) operating in tandem … the outcome was a shared understanding of the operating environment in which the organisation might find itself, the issues that might arise and the challenges the business might face for real … the outcome was a contingency plan to cater for such an eventuality.

Two tier exercise (tactical and operational)

The Client: an international (FCMG) company with a large factory and 18 x export markets in East Africa

Project: the client required key BCPs to be tested, namely: loss of Mombasa Port and failure of two key road-based supply chain operations (in Ethiopia and Congo) … the exercise involved department response teams (Supply Chain and East Africa Markets) to analyse the challenges and develop detailed response plans that enabled export operations to continue which were coordinated by the Crisis Management Team (CMT – tactical) which operated in tandem … the outcomes were a shared understanding of the operating environment in which the organisation might find itself, the issues that might arise, the challenges the business might face for real and important improvements to the BCPs …
